Where Integrity Becomes the Greatest Gem By Business Woman Today -January 16, 2026

Where Integrity Becomes the Greatest Gem By Business Woman Today -January 16, 2026

For over two decades, Nafisa Idrees has quietly built an international jewellery brand defined not by excess, but by meaning. Rooted in honesty, integrity, and an unwavering respect for craftsmanship, her journey reflects a rare balance between creative excellence and personal values. Navigating cultural expectations, global markets, and the realities of entrepreneurship across borders, Nafisa’s story is one of patience, resilience, and purpose-led growth. Through her work with fine gemstones and her voice as a woman in business, she redefines success—not as rapid expansion, but as a thoughtfully built legacy where authenticity remains the most valuable asset.

“SUCCESS BUILT WITH INTEGRITY IS THE ONLY KIND THAT LASTS.”

As a woman leading an international jewellery brand, what personal values have guided your success over the past two decades?

My personal guiding values have been honesty, integrity, and quality over quantity. This takes immense patience and responsibility, both professionally and personally. As a woman rooted in strong family, cultural, and religious values, I learned early that success is not just about growth, but about constant endeavour. Jewellery taught me respect for customer emotions and the power of authenticity. While family life taught me possibilities and accountability. I believe success should not come at the cost of one’s values. Instead, values should shape the way success is built.

What were the biggest challenges you faced as a female entrepreneur in Kuwait, and how did those experiences influence your leadership style today?

One of the biggest challenges was navigating a traditionally structured business environment while also being one of the first in my line and kind of work. As a gemstone specialist, I had to assure clients of my expertise and credibility by going into great depth with them. because it is quite difficult for people to trust others in this sector. My greatest asset and true currency, in my opinion, was my reputation. Those experiences shaped a leadership style that is calm, prepared, and empathetic. I learned to lead without confrontation, to negotiate with clarity, and to respect cultural dynamics while still standing firm in my proficiency.

How do you balance artistic creativity with the demands of running a growing business across two countries?

My jewellery design style has always been very global in appeal. Balance comes from intention, not perfection. Managing family responsibilities alongside an international business, I have learned to honour seasons and priorities. There are times when family needs more of me, and times when business demands focus. Creativity thrives when life is respected, not rushed. Luckily, we are born in an era of the global market. With systemic use of both free and paid online tools, and a loyal team, the business across both the Middle East and U.K is well synchronised.

What role has mentorship—or the lack of it—played in your journey as a businesswoman?

I did not have the luxury of mentorship ever. My greatest challenge was navigating through the paperwork. The legal system of Kuwait does not encourage independent brand development by expats. At that time, I did not have a guru or role model from whom I could get inspiration or guidance. Hence, most of my learning was through self-education, experience, and perseverance. A life-long trail of learning and searching for answers. This absence shaped my desire to now be open, generous, and supportive to other women striving to build something. It is nice to have a mentor, but sometimes, you are destined to lead your own journey.

Many women struggle with confidence when starting a business.

What inner strengths helped you build Nafisa Designs from the ground up?

What sustained me was the love and trust of my customers. When people get compliments even after years, wearing your jewellery, you know you are doing something right and making a difference in their lives and experience. Faith in my skills and family’s support compounds over time. My understanding of the customers’ needs was another natural advantage. Confidence didn’t arrive suddenly; it grew alongside odd struggles and obstacles. As a woman balancing business and social norms, I learned not to wait for ideal conditions. I learned to work within my reality, not against it. That acceptance became my strength.

How do you use your platform to uplift and inspire other women, especially those entering creative industries?

I share my life as a vlog and use my platform to show women that creativity can be professional, profitable, and respected, no matter how small or simple the art is. I speak openly about the realities behind the scenes on how to establish a business while also acknowledging the emotional and personal layers that women carry. I aim to empower women to pursue excellence without feeling they must abandon their identity, family, or values to succeed.

What has been the most transformative lesson you’ve learned about resilience in your entrepreneurial journey?

Resilience, for me, meant learning to adapt and evolve constantly. We often feel torn between the silent need of the business and the pressing needs of everyday life situations, between ambition and responsibilities. I learned that resilience is not about choosing one over the other—it’s about allowing growth in stages. Moving countries, rebuilding systems, and redefining success taught me that progress does not have to be loud or linear to be meaningful. Overall growth, even if it is slow, adds more value and beauty to life.

With your expertise in gemstones, what advice would you give women looking to invest in fine jewellery as long-term assets?

Fine jewellery should be approached with both emotional intelligence and knowledge. I encourage women to invest in timeless pieces crafted with natural gemstones and quality metals. Don’t be carried away with a big brand name; see what genuinely appeals to you. Pieces that can be worn, passed on, and valued. Jewellery is not just an asset; it’s a personal archive of a woman’s journey. Understanding what you buy is a form of empowerment.

How do you maintain your brand’s integrity and authenticity while navigating trends, competition, and market expectations?

I remain anchored in purpose. Trends come and go, but values endure. By staying rooted in the uniqueness and story behind every creation, I can adapt to global markets without losing authenticity. Being culturally grounded has helped me stay selective and intentional, ensuring the brand grows without compromising its essence.

Looking ahead, what impact do you hope your work will have on the next generation of women in business and design?

I hope my journey reassures women that it is possible to be globally relevant while remaining personally grounded. I want the next generation to see that family, faith, culture, and ambition can coexist. If my work encourages women to build sustainable achievements without guilt or self-erasure, then I will feel I have contributed something meaningful. My message is to understand success in totality.

About me

Being an extremely careless, mischievous and a confused soul in my younger years, I didn't expect that after trying 15 different hobbies, I would finally find my calling in something that I had known the least. In something that demanded extreme precision and care.
